The Wrap Up: Tiana
What are you wearing and where is it from?
I’m wearing a really comfy dress from Agent Ninetynine that I picked up here in Sydney. I’ve paired it with boots from Myer that are really good to walk in and some accessories. My favourite jewellery at the moment is from Sportsgirl. I’m also wearing a present my friend bought for me in Bali and my Mum’s necklace.
What's your favourite local store and why?
My wardrobe is made up of clothes from loads of different shops and markets. Finding unique buys is one of the perks about Sydney – it makes me wish I still lived here! So I guess you could say that I don’t really have a favourite local store, all my favourites you have to travel for.
What do you love about fashion?
I love that fashion is always adapting and changing just like the world is. It keeps things interesting and allows people to either appreciate a trend and follow it or go out on a limb and show everyone what they’re comfortable wearing on a day-to-day basis. I also love that you can sometimes remember a memory by what you wore that day – it makes the item of clothing that much more special the next time you pull it out of your wardrobe.
What trends are you coveting at right now?
I like to incorporate trends that influence me and adapt them to my own style – so things that are easy, comfortable and works for me. For example, I really like the bright colours that spring offers this season and I also love that scarves can add texture, interest and even warmth to an outfit! Put the two together and voila! Comfy and colourful.
What was the highlight of your week at SHOP?
It’s so hard to choose just one! I got to work in many different departments which was a big bonus because it allowed me to experience a little bit of everything. One highlight though was working on the shoots for
SHOP 4 Kids. The shoot went over two days and was very tiring but it was well worth it. It was so much fun working with Alissa and the photographers on a shoot for the next issue. I can’t wait to see it!
What surprised you most about life at a glossy magazine?
I was surprised by how many people are working in the building! It also really shocked me that stacks of new deliveries came in every few hours for the girls – just of products for the magazine! I couldn’t believe the huge process that went into making an issue each month. So many hours of hard work, love and care goes into the pages of this magazine!
What did you learn in your week at SHOP?
How to get around Sydney without using Google Maps! I did a lot of running around but it was never the same thing twice, so it was always interesting stepping out of the building. I also learnt that you have to be so dedicated to work in this industry and it’s great to see how so many people have worked hard to get where they are afters years of work experience, interning and extra hours. My week at
SHOP was an incredible experience for me and I can’t wait to go back to Sydney and help out again.
