What are you wearing and where is it from?
Arnsdorf blazer, Dotti tee, Zara skirt, Therapy shoes, Topshop socks, jewellery from Recreational, Sportsgirl and Who Killed Bambi?.
What's your favourite local store and why?
Sportsgirl for their killer accessories, on-trend pieces and visual merchandising (and don’t forget that sale wall). Also, my wardrobe (if that counts as a store) is a pretty good one; it’s always filled with new pieces. That is, pieces that I have somehow forgotten about that’ve been buried underneath a stack of new ones. And, they all come at a bargain price: free!
What do you love about fashion?
I love how it’s a form of expression and art. How you can tell so much about a person and their personality by what they’re wearing and how they’ve styled their outfit.
What trends are you coveting at right now?
Definitely colour-blocking and print-on-print. The ability to wear multitudes of colour without looking like a rainbow on steroids is both fun and exciting; to break the so-called rule of less is more. I’m also really enjoying hosting arm parties – where you invite all your friends: the watch, friendship bracelets and funky bangles – to come party on your arm.
What was the highlight of your week at SHOP?
Just being in the office, really. I loved being able to say “
Shop Til You Drop magazine, this is Sophia speaking”. Best. Ever.
What surprised you most about life at a glossy magazine?
I was actually surprised by how quiet the office was! And that they get a lot, a lot, a lot (a lot!) of mail – it’s like a combination of five birthdays and twenty-six Christmases!
What did you learn in your week at SHOP?
Everybody is so incredibly hard-working and it really does show in how brilliant the final copy is. I also learned that this industry is exactly what I want to be a part of.
