A style icon for girls living in the here and now

Iris Apfel is my idea of heaven. She is seriously amazing. You may need to google her name, but you’ve probably seen an image of her on some blog or Tumblr or website in your web travels. If you haven’t, I’m quite positive you’ve been living under a rock – and I applaud you for your decision to rebel against the all-consuming era of modern technology, but please, continue reading because you need to know about this fabulous lady.
She’s 91 years old, which I guess means she’s allowed to dress a little… extravagantly. Because since beauty and age seem to go hand-in-hand (although I’ll be the last person to ever say that’s true), if you aren’t dressing a little crazy in your old age, what’s the point? My girl Iris loves chunky accessories, the more necklaces and bangles the better (so if you’re looking to channel her, buy this and ten more like it.
She also works some seriously glam opticals (and helped design this pair if you’re digging on her vibe. And try some green wide-leg pants while you're at it. Why? Because Iris would.
If that hasn’t convinced you (and did I mention she also accessorises her stuffed animals?), let me leave you with one of my personal favourite quips from the lady I so desperately wish I was related to; “If you put something on and it doesn’t look good, the fashion police aren’t going to come and take you away. And if they do, you might have some fun in jail.”
