Something old, something new

Nivea is something of a tradition in my family. My 83 year old grandmother swears by the stuff and she looks pretty darn amazing. She’s adamant that Nivea is what’s responsible too. I think she must work on commission for them or something. I’ve tried to tempt her with pots of fancy and luxe high-tech anti-agers, but the woman will not be persuaded. She goes Nivea or she goes nothing. She also uses a lot. Maybe that’s part of why it’s so effective. When I moisturise, I tend to do it quite sparingly. Nan, on the other hand, dips right in, scooping out a generous dollop. She’s buying new jars more regularly than I thought humanly possible. Maybe she’s bathing in it. Anyhow, I just heard about a great deal on Nivea so I put a call straight into her. She actually squealed. No mean feat once you’re past age 16. She’s probably already on her way to a Priceline or Big W store (where this special is exclusive) right now. And then I remembered that I should probably tell you about it too. When you buy a jar of the Nivea Creme, $6.80, 1800 444 002, they’ll also send you home with a limited edition 75mL tin of the same stuff. There are four different versions of the conveniently compact tin (each has a pretty picture from Nivea’s Beauty Is advertising) so I’m predicting Nan will collect them all – if there’s a way the girl can get Nivea for free, she’ll take it. They’re the ultimate handbag size and only available until the end of August so hustle or my Nan might just beat you to it.
