And my adventures continued on day two!
Second stop: Jean Brown Gallery and Jean Brown Robe, Jean Brown Shop 62 & 12, Emporium, 1000 Ann St, Fortitude Valley, Qld.
Owned by the Brisbane queen of luxury Amber Long these two stores require no introduction whatsoever. Set apart from other luxury boutiques, the Jean Brown point of difference is Amber’s dedication to importing labels such as Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Jacobs, Lanvin, Marni, Miu Miu and Prada in sync with the seasonal drop time on international shores. Her prices are competitive, her stock immaculately presented and she hosts an amazing Brown Bag Sale at the end of every season boasting up to 70 per cent off stock.

Third stop: Carmargue, (07) 3252 1100, Emporium Traders, 1000 Ann St, Fortitude Valley, Qld.
Brisbane’s very own slice of the androgynous style synonymous with Melbourne; Carmargue houses a mecca of cutting edge, under-the-radar international and local fashion labels. Guided by the kooky staff dressed tip-to-toe in black, be prepared to be mesmerised by the latest offerings from Maison Martin Margiela, Zambesi, Nom*D and Easton Pearson. Fourth stop: Belinda, 8 Wandoo St, Fortitude Valley, Qld. Sydney’s fashion authority Belinda Seper has spread her wings up the coastline and opened her largest boutique yet, right in the heart of Fortitude Valley. The pristine space houses a perfect integration of the finest international and antipodean labels offering the women of Brisbane an exclusive window into her wonderful world. Belinda stocks Stella McCartney, Lanvin, Chloé, Vanessa Bruno, Michelle Jank, Willow, Gail Sorronda, Dion Lee, Yeojin Bae and Lover.
Fifth stop: The Tribun, 164 Arthur Street, Fortitude Valley, Qld. Another offspring from the Jean Brown group, The Tribune in particular kidnapped my attention with its combination of innovative emerging local designers and severely discounted international accessories. While I ‘oohed’ and ‘ahhed’ over the latest dresses from rule-breaking designers such as Love Hero, I purchased a pair of Galliano boots for $300 and bought my colleagues back tales of Balenciaga heels for $225 and Lanvin satin flats for $100. Mind blowing.
Okay, well that’s my guided tour of the newest and best retailers in Brisbane. I hope you can make it there too sometime soon!
