Loving my lashes
POSTED 11.03.2010 @ 11:55
I was born with a curse*. Not a debilitating, life-threatening curse, but one that I am just as self conscious about: short eyelashes. Now before you think that I’m just hideously vain, until you suffer from the same fate, it’s hard to comprehend. I’ve tried just about every single mascara on the market in the bid to get those long, luscious lashes that Eva Longoria Parker sports. I’ve tried curling, perming, tinting, brushing – pretty much whatever you can do to little lashes, I’ve tried – with no luck.
Until
The Day – hereby known as The Day I Finally Gave In And Got Lash Extensions. The Day I finally had lashes to rival Eva’s. The Day I finally opened my eyes (both literally and figuratively) to the world of long lashes. And all thanks to Love Those Lashes.
Sure, I was sceptical – about the longevity, about the look of falsies, about my lashes falling out all together – but I needn’t have been concerned.
After an initial consultation where I selected my desired length, I lay down and closed my eyes. An hour later, I was awoken (yes, I’d fallen asleep, I can guarantee it’s definitely pain-free) and peered into the mirror. Immediately I noticed my eyes looked bigger and my lashes were thick, long and perfectly curled.
And they looked natural. Almost like I’d been secretly applying Rogaine under my mascara.
The first day, it’s recommended not to get your eyes wet and to always use a non-alcoholic make-up remover. The day after however, go for it. While I was still careful not to scrub, pull or yank at the lashes, they seemed like they weren’t going anyway. I even went surfing a few days later and came out intact. Infills are recommended every three weeks or so, and I did notice that as I was nearing the end of the fortnight, that they were decidedly less full. But, still better than what nature decided to give me.
I can safely say now after several infills that yes, it’s painless; yes, they definitely look natural; yes, you don’t even notice them; yes, they stay on no matter what; yes, there’s definitely no harm to your eyes or lashes… and yes, you should definitely try them. Why? Because, as Eva says, you’re worth it.
