Long live Mischa

I had a disagreement with someone the other day. She said Mischa Barton has lost it (her style that is). I was hysterical. “What do you mean, she’s lost it?” I defended, “Okay, so she’s had a couple of post-Marissa fashion blunders but she’ll always be a style icon.” The latter comment received one or two (possibly five) rolls of the eye from various non-believers in the room. I’m perfectly aware that the show (The O.C.) has been over for, like, two years but I can’t let go. I’m a Mischa-holic; so sue me. The girl knew (read: knows) how to turn heads (in particular, mine). I actually think most of my O.C. obsession was with her – and not the show. I wanted to be cool like her. I wanted her hair. I wanted to pash Benjamin McKenzie. But most of all, I wanted a Chanel quilted bag to carry to school like Marissa. Nowadays, I see Mischa in a different light – my eyes dart to her in the gossip rags for fashion inspiration. I want to mimic her every fashion move (even the daggy T-shirts she wears to pick up her Starbucks). Is there something wrong with that? Everyone has a style icon; mine just happens to be an out-of-work actress with a funny accent and hippie hair.
