What are you wearing and where is it from?
My jeans and shirt are by Junk, my studded belt is by Lowlife of London, glasses by Red or Dead and a chain mail necklace from Lovisa.
What is your favourite local store and why? It would have to be Belle & Paige in Hobart, Tasmania because they stock great Australian Labels like Tigerlily, Alice McCall, Lover and Staple the Label and everything is just so pretty.
What do you love about fashion? I love that the way we dress is an extension of ourselves and who we are. Fashion has become another medium of self-expression and representation, it speaks loudly of our interests and attitude.
What trends are you coveting right now? I’m a fan of the use of leather in staple garments like tees, shirts, trousers and blazers, especially the Karl Lagerfeld and Net-A-Porter collaboration, Karl. I also love that loafers are getting a tough make-over.
What was the highlight of your week at SHOP? The best part of this week is having the opportunity to speak to the interns and the team and hear how they first got involved in the publishing industry .
What surprised you most about life at a glossy magazine? Considering it’s predominantly female and everyone is surrounded by clothes, beauty products and celebrity trends all day, I was surprised at just how quiet the office is! They’re always hard at work.
What did you learn in your week at SHOP? I learnt that everything that goes into the mag has to be approved, tweaked, corrected and gone over time and time again. Working in the fashion cupboard is a huge job and involves sorting through an unimaginable amount of clothes, shoes and accessories. I also learnt the best thing to do is to just gain experience in what you want to do.
