The genius behind the fabulous outfits on Sex And The City talks about her latest design…

How was your experience working with SKYY Vodka?
Working with Gruppo Campari and Skyy Spirits was a fun and exciting experience. I really enjoyed being able to create and design new things outside of my own fashion line, alongside such a successful, iconic brand. SKYY was built around the ideals of quality, innovation and style, which are key principles I incorporate into all my designs, so it was a natural fit.

How did you feel when you were invited to design the first ever limited-edition SKYY Vodka bottle in honour of the release of SATC2?
When Gruppo Campari and Skyy Spirits asked me to design a limited-edition SKYY Vodka label, I was very happy and surprised, but mostly I was honoured to have the chance to work with such an iconic brand that matches the timeless sophistication and glamour of my own designs and Sex And The City.  

How did you integrate the SATC glamour that it’s so well known for into your design?
When I look at the limited-edition SKYY Vodka bottle I designed, what immediately draws my eye is the striking, sparkling imagery. I love how playful and fun it looks, while still being very sophisticated and glamorous. The international skyline is a nod to both SKYY and the film’s global appeal. And, naturally, I couldn’t help adding my own logo to really tie it all together. It is a striking, modern and fashionable look befitting SKYY’s famous blue bottle.

Did you design any other items for SKYY Vodka besides the limited-edition bottle?
Yes, I also created a line of special promotional items that will be available in the US. They include fun wearable items and fashionable cocktail accessories that are going to make any night on the town into the ultimate Sex And The City moment.    

What is your favourite item that you developed for SKYY Vodka?
I would say that the SKYY Vodka bottle was my favourite. It’s not often that a company with a product so easily identified by its iconic blue bottle asks you to redesign such a legendary package. We had so much fun coming up with ideas on how to convey the Sex And The City image while also maintaining SKYY’s glamorous look and feel. I really love the results.

Are you excited to see the new SATC2 film?
I’m really eager to see the film in its entirety. I was there to style the girls while shooting the movie, and I know that it won’t disappoint Sex And The City fans.  

What is next for you professionally?

I’ll continue to work on my own fashion line to create things that inspire women as much as Carrie has.  

How did Patricia Field, the SATC costume designer come into being?  
I developed a relationship with Sarah Jessica Parker and producer Barry Jossen while filming the movie Miami Rhapsody, both of whom introduced me to Sex And The City creator Darren Star when the first season of the television show was filming.  

What advice would you give to young designers hoping to launch a career?
Stay true to who you are and never be afraid to express yourself with your own integrity.  

Do you drink SKYY Vodka?
Of course, I love the clean taste!  

Which is your favourite cocktail?
I’ll always be a faithful fan of the cosmopolitan – SKYY Vodka, cranberry juice, Triple Sec and lime – all you need for a great cocktail, plus I like the colour!  

Sex And The City 2 is released in cinemas on June 3. The SKYY Vodka Sex And The City 2 limited edition bottle, $39.99, will be available at selected liquor outlets from June.
