Fashion plate Nicole Richie was the special guest of honour at the opening of Sydney’s newly refurbished MidCity Centre in Pitt Street Mall this morning. The LA socialite – who wore a simple white Uscari dress (which she picked herself from the MidCity Centre shops) and her own black studded leather jacket – smiled and waved to her fans as she chatted candidly with MC Sarah Wilson.

Nicole, who was sporting long, messed-up chocolate locks, happily answered questions about her imitable style, telling fans to have fun with fashion and go with whatever feels right. When asked about the trends in LA at the moment, the mum-of-two said she was currently living in peasant-style dresses and wearing flats everywhere possible.

So what’s on Nicole’s shopping list while she’s in Oz? Look out for the star browsing the racks at Forever New, General Pants Co., Sass & Bide and Ksubi. And if you do see her – we recommend donning some obligatory oversized sunnies… that engagement rock is blinding!
