Can model, will design

They spend their entire lives surrounded by designers, hopping in and out of the season’s must-have buys before they’re even in stores, so it’s no surprise that some supermodels are strutting straight off the catwalks and into the design studio.
It-Brit Agyness Deyn is teaming up with Barneys Japan (see left for a sample) to create a special 11-piece collection, which will include dresses, knits, scarves, T-shirts and leggings, starting from around $235 (although bets are on, they skyrocket on eBay after the release). But the best bit? Proceeds from the collection will go towards planting trees in inner Mongolia.
Another model turning designer is Victoria’s Secret stunner Jessica Stam, who is dipping her toe into the design pool, helping out Rachel Roy with a one-off capsule collection featuring a pair of jeans, a cardigan and a handbag. And the duo is kindly keeping us all in the loop, with both Stam and Roy jumping on Facebook and Twitter to update fans on the collection. Just what we needed – another reason to check Facebook obsessively at work…
