Blogging insights from the front row of 30 Days of Fashion and Beauty: Lauren Hernandez
POSTED 29.10.2011 @ 13:04
In September, three of our favourite bloggers attended 30 Days of Fashion and Beauty as guests of
Commonwealth Bank. We caught up with them after the shows to get their insights into blogging, celeb spotting and the looks they’re saving up for this season.
Lauren Hernandez,
Your Only BlackswanHow did you get into fashion blogging?
Being a creative individual, I often look to the internet for inspiration in both fashion, design and photography. Being an avid reader of other blogs, I felt I too had something to offer and share on a public platform. Your Only Blackswan soon became my creative outlet and an intrinsic link between my full-time role as a graphic designer and my strong interest in fashion. Being a graphic designer, I treat my blog a personal style diary where I have no limit to be as creative and expressive as I like. My skills in Photoshop, marketing, photography and html have certainly assisted me with every post.
What’s the most exciting thing that’s happened because of your blog?
I think one of the most exciting things to happen is actually meeting other like-minded individuals who also share the same enthusiasm and interests for blogging, experimenting with fashion and photography. New doors instantly open and you become more aware of the influence bloggers have on fashion and how brands market themselves. I have also been invited to join in a special project with a popular fast-fashion brand that will launch next month.
Which trends at 30 Days of Fashion and Beauty did you love most?
I attended the Harper's Bazaar Presents Alex Perry show at The Commonwealth Bank in Martin Place. Here I got to see Alex Perry's latest collection "Cuban Princess" which was more than divine and included some of my favourite new looks for summer like colour-blocking, contrasting textures and sequins!
What’s on your shopping wish list right now? What are your money tips to fast-track your saving?
I would like to get my hands on a pair of bright coloured suede platforms, a comfortable printed sundress and big round sunnies. Of course we can't always have everything, so in order to save for such purchases I love to mix vintage pieces with quality wardrobe staples. You will be surprised to see how far a $4 shirt from Salvos can go!
