Product name: Napoleon Perdis Patrol Conceal It, $35, napoleonperdis.com.
Guinea pig: Roshan, copy director
“The first comment I received the morning I trialled it was, “Wow your eyebrows look nice today!” I figured this was because the focus was no longer on my dark circles.”
Best for: You guessed it. Dark under-eye circles.
Worst feature: My skin seems to soak it up so it requires regular application. Perhaps if I invested in a primer...
Would you buy it: Of course – my eyebrows have never looked better!
Product name: Bloom Concealer, $28, bloomcosmetics.com.au.
Guinea pig: Danielle, acting art director
“Very easy to apply.”
Best for: Worked really well on the under-eye area.
Worst feature: Looked cakey with my foundation.
Would you buy it: Yes if I was looking for something in that price range.
Product name: Lancôme Maquicomplet Complete Coverage Concealer, $58, (02) 9931 8888.
Guinea pig: Danielle, managing editor
“Great coverage – nice and moisturising with a handy wand applicator.”
Best for: Heavier coverage. Great for a night out when you want to look less tired.
Worst feature: It would be too heavy if you were using it for a light and natural look.
Would you buy it: Definitely!
Product name: Benefit Boi-ing Concealer, $34, (02) 9695 4800.
Guinea pig: Emma, deputy chief sub-editor/ features writer
“Silly name, serious product. I usually use a liquid concealer so this took some getting used to. It certainly did the job and then some – an industrial strength cover-up that stays put all day.”
Best for: Covering serious damage like bruising, scarring or that mammoth pimple you shouldn’t have touched but did anyway.
Worst feature: It’s really thick so can look a little obvious if you’re not blessed with make-up artist-like application skills.
Would you buy it: A great addition if, like me, you have a whole stable of concealers for every job.
Product name: Gorgeous Cosmetics Camouflage Cover Creme, $28, (03) 8520 5500.
Guinea pig: Alice, staff writer/ sub editor
“The wand applicator makes it super simple to apply and the texture makes it easy to blend.”
Best for: A quick touch up when you’re on the run.
Worst feature: Over time it had a tendency to become flaky and dry.
Would you buy it: Yes, along with a good moisturiser to keep the dryness at bay.
Product name: Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage, $62, (02) 9663 4277.
Guinea pig: Kate, online editor
“Extra thick and sticky for long-lasting coverage.”
Best for: The under-eye area – it didn’t dry out or flake.
Worst feature: The shade was a bit dark for my skin, but once summer hits it’ll be perfect.
Would you buy it: It’s more money than I would normally spend on a concealer, but it’s definitely the best I’ve ever used.
Product name: MAC Select Cover-up, $32, maccosmetics.com.au.
Guinea pig, Jane, senior market editor
“Good coverage that is not too thick and therefore not too ageing”
Best for: Dark circles.
Worst feature: This one doesn’t really conceal pimples and could be a bit more luminous.
Would you buy it: Yes, but only to use in with illuminating foundation.
