Forget her husband – it’s the Duchess of Cambridge's expertly groomed tresses that’ve got us green with envy. Glossy with just the right amount of volume – we asked Wella Professionals hairstylist Travis Balcke how to get princess hair at home.

Here’s how.
1. This regal style all comes down to prep. “A volumising shampoo helps boost body before you even get out of the shower,” says Balcke. Next, apply a pea-sized amount of shine serum to damp ends for lightweight sheen that won’t make hair limp.

2. For extra oomph, scrunch in a handful of mousse, comb through, then blast with a dryer on medium heat until 80 per cent dry. “Flip your head from side-to-side as you go – it looks dramatic but the volume you get is worth it,” says Balcke.
Try: Wella Professionals Extra Volume Styling Mousse, $24, 1300 889 886.

3. Section hair into manageable chunks and use a round brush to pull hair upwards for root lift. Go over each section three times to smooth the cuticle (like they do in the salon) then wind ends around the barrel – it adds movement. To finish, mist a detangling spray over dry hair, and hit strands again with the dryer – sounds crazy but it gives ridiculous sheen.
Try: Wella Professionals Enrich Moisturizing Leave-in Balm, $24, 1300 889 886.
Sure, you’re not a royal…
But that doesn’t mean you can’t look like one. Gloss is the key to expensive-looking locks, so invest in a leave-in prod that contains amino acids to repair frazzled hair inside and out.
Try: Wella Professionals Mirror Polish Shine Serum, $24, 1300 889 886.
