A sale to never forget…

What’s a SHOP employee’s favourite pastime? That would be shopping. And when there’s a sale you just can’t keep us away. Friday was no exception. David our sub editor entered the fashion cupboard speaking of a shoe sale. Immersed in our work we didn’t really react until he mentioned that one of the girls from another mag had just purchased a pair of Chloé shoes. Everyone’s head lifted and he had our full attention. The building across the street was holding one of the most fabulous shoe sales we’d ever seen selling brands such as Chloé, Dior, Miu Miu and Prada – how could we resist? We ‘power walked’ across and entered the room to be greeted with designer shoe boxes piled one on top of the other. We were in heaven. We ran around grabbing whatever we could find in our size. Women were trying on shoes sizes too small or too big for them, whatever they could do to bag a bargain. We eventually found ourselves in a corner trying on all our finds, and it was finally decided we all had cut it down to one pair each. Then, as it sometimes does, responsibility kicked in – do we need these shoes? Are we just purchasing them because they are on sale? All very important questions. After walking around a bit more and a second try-on, who were we kidding, designer shoes at discounted prices – we definitely needed them. We went on to purchase them followed by a show-and-tell in the fashion office. In the end it was one of the best sales I’ve ever been too, and I got a great pair of shoes just in time for the weekend.
